Problem: The Digidesign C|24 in studio 6 was occasionally turning off without any human intervention. This would cause the speakers to bark when the power was restored to the C|24.

Solution: The power cable on the C|24 power supply did not have a solid connection.  If the cable moved just slightly, it would disconnect the hot side and interrupt the connection.  It seems that the AC pins are not as long or the connector is too deep for most of our standard power cables.  I found one that fit tighly in the connector and the problem dissipated.

For the record, the C|24 was fine.  The problem was from a power cable.

I’m assuming you know how to change the audio input settings for the software that you are using.  Remember, if you are running ProTools, then no other software can use the 003. Otherwise, if the software does not list the 003, try this:

1. Check System Profile to see if the computer recognizes the 003.  It will show up (or not) under Hardware>Firewire.  Remember, you can get to the System Profiler by opening it in the Applications>Utilities folder or go to the Apple Menu (top left hand side of screen) and select “About this Mac”, then click on “More Info…”
   
2. Turn off the 003, wait a few seconds and turn it back on.
3. Go back to System Profile.  Command-R to refresh.  Check for 003
   1. If yes, go back the software application that you were using, close it, then restart the software
