Pro Tools 10.0.1 unable to find audio interface

Problem:

I just installed two Accel cards in a Magma Chassis. The top digilink cable was loose so I replaced it. No change. I ran DigiTest. It passed. Restart. No Change with PT. Still doesn’t see interface attached to first HD card. I open DigiTest again. It see the interfaces and correctly identifies them. Both firmwares are up to date but open up PT and it does see the hardware.

Solution: Make sure the ribbon cable that connects the PCI cards is correct! Problem solved. Port B on Core card to port A on Accel card.

ProTools, Error missing iLok authorization

Problem: 

I did notice that my old green ilok’s LED was flickering.

Solution: Thinking the iLok was failing, I moved all the authorizations to a new ilok. Same error. iLok.com found the iLok; Pro Tools could not. Hmm. iLok has two software installs: a client installer to allow you add licenses to your iLok through iLok.com. The iLok Driver allows the local machine’s software to access the iLok. I downloaded the driver installer, installed and voila!

Where are the Waves Plugins.

If an application ever asks to locate the Waves plugins, you can find them in the Applications>Waves>Waves PlugIns folder. Find the folder by clicking on it once, then click on “Choose”.  FYI, all other plugins for Digidesign are kept here: Library>Application Support>Digidesign>Plug-Ins folder
